Family Letter number 2
17th April 2008
Dear Parents,
French Club
Mrs. Pamley is unable to be here next Monday, 21st April for her session with 2B and Year 4. Therefore Monday’s session will take place on Tuesday 22nd April, same time. Please remind your children to attend French Club on Tuesday just for that week.
Bank Holiday Monday May 5th
A reminder that school is closed on Monday 5th May.
– Friday 25th April at 9.30 a.m.
We look forward to parents/carers of children in Class Rec. E. joining us for this event.
Yoga Bugs
There are a few places in the Yoga Bugs sessions held for pupils in Years 1, 2 and 3 on Mondays from 3.15 to 4.00 p.m. If your child is interested in joining in this club please contact Mrs. Elcock.
On occasions you may receive a printed letter asking the reasons for your child’s absence despite the fact that you may have already contacted us. Please note that sometimes the computer optical mark reader does not pick up the marks made by the teachers on the absence forms. This is merely a second check to ensure all reasons for absence are accurate, so we would be grateful if you would complete and return the letter as requested.
Recycled Printer Ink CartridgesWe are still collecting any empty ink cartridges from all printers – if you have any at home please bring them into school – there is a collection box in the foyer.
Used StampsWe are still collecting used postage stamps for St. Giles Hospice. Please send any used stamps into the school office.
Term Time Holiday RequestsWe ask you to ensure that holiday forms are returned to school at least two weeks before any holiday commences. The current policy is that 10 days are allowed during each academic year. Any days taken over this number will be marked as unauthorised.
Thursday 24th April – Industrial Action
You may be aware from media reports that the National Union of Teachers is planning a day’s industrial action on Thursday 24th April. This may involve up to four teachers here at St. Michael’s. Should the teachers concerned choose to follow their professional association’s advice school will be closed to those classes on that day. We will confirm on Friday if any classes will be affected both by letter an on our website.
Message from the Road Safety Unit
Now that the clocks have “sprung forward” why not try walking to school at least one day a week.
If you have to travel by car to school don’t forget to park away from school entrances, not on the zig zag markings and please make sure that ALL children exit the car onto the pavement and not into the road.
PTA News

Would you be willing to run a stall as a family or a group of friends?
Do you work for a company that would be able to offer us some sponsorship? Or provide us with a raffle prize?
Please feel free to contact us: drop a note into our PTA tray in the school office or speak to any member of the PTA committee.
If you have a particular area of interest or a talent to offer, or if you would simply like to lend a hand, please don’t be shy! We need your input and contributions.
