Family Letter number 4
1st May 2008

Dear Parents,

Bank Holiday Monday May 5th
A reminder that school is closed on Monday 5th May.

French Club

The children who would normally attend French Club on a Monday are invited to attend on Friday 9th May at the normal time due to the May Day bank holiday on Monday 5th.  If your child has French Lessons and you have not already paid please do so as soon as possible.

Girls’ Football Tournament

Our Girls’ Football Team won the Football Tournament they took part in on Friday 25th April.  Congratulations and well done to all those involved.   Thanks to staff and parents who enabled this event to take place and helped the pupils to reach such a high standard.

Lent Collection – Sports Relief

Thank you to all who have collected in their sponsor money.  Please could you encourage your children to collect any money outstanding and bring it into school.

Class Worship – Class Rec. L

We look forward to parents/carers of children in Class Rec. L joining us tomorrow at 9.30 a.m. for this event.

Yellow Moon Fundraising Catalogue

Please take time to look at this catalogue.  School receives commission on purchases you make.  Remember to quote the school source code:  SST3027 on your order.

Parking problems at Main School
We are facing a parking crisis at Main School.  With a staff of over 40 at Main School there are not enough parking spaces for us to park. We would therefore ask for your support by only using the pedestrian entrance in Cherry Orchard when visiting school.  There is no vehicle access for parents or visitors.  Thank you to all those parents who are supporting us, but please can I reiterate the need for you not to use the car park for dropping off and collecting your children.  Also please take care if you are collecting a child from beacon Badgers at the Annexe.  Yesterday a member of staff’s car was damaged.  We appreciate that often Dean’s Croft is congested due to the Health Centre.  However, please note there is no access to the Annexe car park for parents before 4.00 p.m.

Safety of our children
You will have noticed that scaffolding has been erected around our school due to re-felting of part of the roof.  Please ensure your children do not climb the metal posts or swing from the bars while they are in your care.  Whilst on school premises be aware of workmen and vehicles.  Your child’s safety is our main concern.

The entrance on Sturgeons Hill is a vehicle entrance only.  Would all parents please respect this especially those of our afternoon Nursery children.  The entrance on Cherry Orchard should be used at all times.

PTA News

Children’s Discos
The next children’s discos will take place on Wednesday 7th May. A separate letter has been issued with full details.  Please take the time to read this as we’ve made a few changes to procedures.

Could we also remind parents that children should wear sensible footwear (no ‘heelies’ please) and should not bring valuable or inappropriate objects into school. Thank you.

If you are able to help out during the discos- either by staying in the hall or helping sell refreshments, then could you please let us know by returning the slip at the bottom of the disco letter.  We are usually short of helpers at the 2nd disco.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

St. Michael’s Primary School PTA Summer Fayre 2008

Preparations have begun for our annual Summer Fayre which is scheduled to take place on Saturday 28th June from 12pm-3pm.

Do you work for a company that would be able to offer us some sponsorship? Or provide us with a raffle prize?

If you have a particular area of interest or a talent to offer, or if you would simply like to lend a hand, please don’t be shy!  We need your input and contributions.

Please feel free to contact us: drop a note into our PTA tray in the school office or speak to any member of the PTA committee.

Yours faithfully,

Miss H. McKay

Headteacher.
