French Club
A reminder that the children who would normally attend French Club on a Monday are invited to attend tomorrow, Friday 9th May at the normal time due to the May Day bank holiday last Monday. If your child has French Lessons and you have not already paid please do so as soon as possible.
Class Arrangements for September
Over the coming weeks we will be organising classes for September. The current Reception, Year 2 and Year 4 classes will be reorganised into two new classes. If you feel that there are any ‘issues’ or ‘histories’ that we should be aware of please talk to your child’s current teacher. Please be aware that at this stage we have not organised which teachers are going to be in which year group, so please, no requests for specific teachers.
Class arrangements for September will be published on Monday 30th June 2008. As in previous years we will display the class lists in the entrance hall on Monday 30th June and Tuesday 1st July.
Please note that the lists will not be posted until the end of the school day on Monday 30th June.
Summer – Sun Protection
Can I remind you to provide sunhats and sun cream for your children if they need them. As you know we are not allowed to apply cream, children must do so themselves. It makes dinner times so much easier as we have very little natural shade.
School Photographs
The photographer will be in school in the afternoon of Monday 19th May to take class photographs of children in the Reception Classes and Year 6.
Monday 26th May until Friday 30th May – Half Term
A reminder that school closes at the normal time on Friday 23rd May and reopens on Monday 2nd June 2008.
Water Bottles
All children should have a water bottle in school so that they can remain hydrated throughout the day. New bottles of water can be purchased for 20p. Or empty Sports Bottles at a cost of £1 each.
Musical Instrument Demonstration Evening – Wednesday 21st May – 6.30 p.m.
A musical instrument demonstration evening has been arranged for Wednesday May 21st at 6.30 p.m. This is an opportunity for those children in years 3, 4 and 5, interested in playing a musical instrument from next September to come along with their parents and see what is on offer. The evening will begin with an introduction by Mrs. Christine Henderson from the County Music Department, with short demonstrations given by children already playing instruments.
Children are eligible to play violins from Year 4 with cello flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone and guitar from Year 5.
We look forward to seeing you. Please return the slip below if you wish to attend this demonstration.
Yours faithfully,
Miss H. McKay
Headteacher.
From Mrs. V. Wyss - School Band
There will be no more rehearsals until after half term – Tuesday 3rd June. I realise this is a long break, but unfortunately SATS and an appointment on my part mean that I have to cancel the next two rehearsals.
There may be some alterations or additional rehearsals after half term, particularly for Year 6 students, in preparation for their Leavers Evening on 9th July. I will let you know arrangements as soon as possible. I have given Year 6 children some music to be rehearsing during the break – there will be another piece to follow before half term, which I will give them through school. Also please put Saturday 28th June in the diary, as we will be playing at St. Michael’s Summer Fair.
I would also like to let you know formally that I will be relinquishing my role with the school band at the end of the Summer Term. This is due to my on moving on to a new school, and my own work commitments. I am discussing the future of the band with Miss McKay as we speak, and if anyone would like to volunteer to take on the role, I am sure the children will be very grateful! Please feel free to contact me, if I can be of any assistance.
Thank you for your continued support of the children’s activities, and I will be in touch regarding rehearsals.
Mrs. V. Wyss.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered to help with the children’s discos on Wednesday. Without your support we would not be able to run these events. Your help is always appreciated.
As well as being a fun social for the children, these events also raise valuable funds. We will update you on the amount we have raised as soon as we have the figures.

Goodbye Lichfield, Hello Panama! St. Michael’s PTA would just like to give Julie Duckworth and her family our best wishes with their move to Panama.
