Family Letter number 7
22nd May 2008

Dear Parents,

Amy West Class 6M has been selected to be a member of
Staffordshire Under 13’s Cricket Team
We would like to send our congratulations to Amy West from Class 6M.  Amy has been selected to be in the Under 13’s Staffordshire Cricket Team.  What an achievement!  Good luck when you represent Staffordshire in Wales.

Friday 23rd May at 2.30 p.m.
– 3S Class Worship

We look forward to parents/carers of children in Class 3S joining us on Friday 23rd May at 2.30 a.m. for this event.

Monday 26th May until
Friday 30th May – Half Term

A reminder that school closes tomorrow at the normal time and reopens on Monday 2nd June 2008.

Summer – Sun ProtectionCan I remind you to provide sunhats and sun cream for your children if they need them.  As you know we are not allowed to apply cream, children must do so themselves.  It makes dinner times so much easier as we have very little natural shade.

Message from the Road Safety Unit
The weather is starting to get better, why not try walking to school more than once a week!  Whilst walking encourage your child to walk furthest from the road at all times.

Walking is good for children and it is noticed that children who have walked to school are more alert in class than children who have travelled by car.

Mrs. Orr – School Cook
On Friday 6th June we will be saying good-bye to our School Cook, Mrs. Orr, who is leaving us to take up a new position, still employed by County Catering, but on promotion as a peripatetic training officer.  I am sure you will join us in thanking Mrs. Orr for her huge contribution to the life of our school community and wish her well for the future.

PTA News

Summer Fayre Help Needed- Saturday 28th June 12-3pm
We have put a list of proposed stalls on the PTA notice board and a brief description.  We are trying to allocate help to these stalls ASAP.  Please look out for us at the school gates.  We will be sending out a letter out about the Fayre shortly after half-term.
The next PTA meeting to discuss the Summer Fayre will take place on Monday 9th June at Main school from 7-9pm. This meeting will be open to anyone who just wants to ‘drop in’ during this period.  So pop in and find out what’s involved.

Non-Uniform Day
A date for your diaries.  We will be holding a non-uniform day in exchange for donations (tombola prizes etc) to be used for the Summer Fayre on Friday 13th June.  A separate letter with full details will be issued after half-term.

Summer Fayre Grand Raffle
We need more prizes for the Summer Fayre Grand Raffle! Examples include family days out, beauty treatments, vouchers, meals for 2 etc. If you know someone who might be able to supply us with a suitable prize then please ask on our behalf.

St Michael’s PTA debut at Lichfield Bower- 26th May 2008

Spicing Up Your Life!

We are making our grand debut in the Bower Parade on Bank Holiday Monday.

Do you ‘Wannabe’ in the Parade with us? It only lasts for an hour and a half, so you’ll still have plenty of time to enjoy the rides and sideshows in the town and Beacon Park afterwards.  We will be dressing up in our Spice Girls fancy dress outfits and we have other costumes, props that people can borrow to carry on the theme - BUT - if you really don’t want to dress up that’s fine.  Union Jack t-shirts or red, white and/or blue clothing will be great.  Please contact a member of the PTA if you want to be involved.

We will be accompanied by a fabulous British Racing Green kit car and trailer, which will be decorated with balloons, flags and PTA banner. We hope to make our first appearance in the Bower as memorable as possible. Hopefully the more attention we attract, the more money we will get (we get a percentage of the takings for PTA funds).

Please, ‘Say You’ll Be There’…Zig a zig - ah! (or cheer very loudly for us)

Lindsey.
