Family Letter number 8
Autumn Term, 23rd October 2008
Dear Parents,
Staff Training Day – Friday 24th October 2008
A reminder that school is closed to pupils tomorrow, Friday 24th October 2008.
The Half Term holiday is 27th October to 31st October 2008
French Club
Due to the large number of children in the Year 1 classes Mrs. Pameley will split the group into two sessions after half term. Class 1W will have their lesson on Mondays at noon and Class 1H will have their lesson on Thursdays again at noon. If your child takes part in our French Club and you have not already paid fees for this term please do so now.
Jewellery, Make Up and Mobile Telephones
In school we follow the LEA Guidelines regarding jewellery and make-up. Children can wear a watch to school and plain stud earrings if they have pierced ears. Both watches and earrings have to be removed for P.E., Games and Swimming. Children should not bring their mobile telephones to school, as these are valuable items. In the event of a child needing to make a telephone call we can facilitate this from the school office. We would appreciate your support in this matter.
Christmas Pudding Label CompetitionWe had many lovely entries for the Christmas Pudding Label Design. Congratulations to our winners, Cameron Westwood in class 2S and Holly Denby in class 1W.
St. Michael’s Christmas PuddingsIf you wish to order our very popular St. Michael’s Christmas Puddings, please return your order and payment as soon as possible.
Poppy DayPoppies are now on sale in school. If you wish your child to contribute to this collection donations will be most welcome.
AbsencesOn occasions you may receive a printed letter asking the reasons for your child’s absence despite the fact that you may have already contacted us. Please note that sometimes the computer optical mark reader does not pick up the marks made by the teachers on the absence forms. This is merely a second check to ensure all reasons for absence are accurate, so we would be grateful if you would complete and return the letter as requested.
Grandparent/Parent Lunch for Reception and Nursery ClassesIt was lovely to see so many Grandparents and Parents in school this week for this event.
Operation Christmas ChildWorking in partnership with Lichfield Methodist Church we will be collecting shoeboxes, gifts, or money for Operation Christmas Child. If you feel you can contribute in some way please send your donations to us before 3.30 p.m. on Friday 14th November. Please label boxes to indicate which age group and whether the gift is suitable for a boy or girl.
I do hope that you feel that you can help to make Christmas a little happier for children less fortunate than our own.
November Safety Message

With Bonfire Night fast approaching please remember that more than 1000 people are injured by sparklers and fireworks annually at this time of year; with over 50 people needing to stay in hospital to receive further treatment. Half of all of these accidents happen to children under 16 years of age. Remember to take particular care with sparklers as they account for more injuries than any other fireworks combined. For more information about firework safety visit - http://www.saferfireworks.com/index.htm
School Photographs
Our order has now been sent off to Tempest Photographer. If you require any photographs not already ordered please deal with Tempest directly.
