Christmas Holiday Reminder

School closes at the normal time on Thursday 18th December and reopens on Monday 5th January 2009.

Gifted and Talented
We are currently working in school to develop our approach to Gifted and Talented provision, which reflects our school ethos and philosophy.  As a result of recent in-house training we will soon be in a position to contact parents whose children may fall within this criteria.  As soon as this is completed we will be contacting those concerned and holding a meeting to discuss our approach.  Our school Gifted and Talented Policy will be available via our school website shortly.  At St. Michael’s we are committed to providing an environment, which encourages all pupils to maximise their potential and this clearly includes pupils who display some form of giftedness.

Band Practice
Last week was our last practice this term.  Band Practice will resume on 19th January 2009.

Round Table Christmas Tableau 2008

We’ve been lucky again this year to secure a place on the Lichfield Round Table Christmas Tableau.  In exchange for assisting the Round Table & sleigh with their street collection, we receive a percentage of the overall takings - a substantial amount towards our fundraising.

Date:    Monday 8th December
Time:   6:30pm onwards
Route:   Broadlands rise and surrounding area

It’s usually good fun.  You collect donations door-to-door and stop along the way for drinks and refreshments.  Only adults can assist with the collection, sorry no children allowed.  If you are able to help then please call Jacey on 07940 573693. Or drop a note with you name and contact details into the office ASAP. We need at least 10-15 adult volunteers, so please consider helping out.  Thanks.

Children’s Christmas Decoration Competition
Thanks to everyone who made a decoration for our school Christmas Trees.  There are some amazing creations, see for yourself.  We’ll let you know the winners soon.

Christmas Fayre
Only one day to go before the Christmas Fayre!  It will be taking place tomorrow (Friday) at Main School from 6-8pm.  Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to help set up, run stalls, help on the BBQ and clear away afterwards.

Christmas Fayre at Main school, Friday 5th December, 6-8pm.

Try your luck on the tombolas and check out our stalls, including the fabulous new stalls from our Year 6 children: “Christmas Dinner Stall”, “Tug the Tinsel Stall”, “Santa and Elf Hat Sales” and “Birthday Bear”.  There will be delicious hot waffles and mulled wine on sale for that festive feel and much more besides!  So make it a date and come along and see for yourself!  A provisional classroom plan is reproduced below, so you can see the layout.  Please check the final programme at the Fayre in case of changes.

Christmas Fayre – Cake Stall
We are accepting donations of bought or baked cakes in school tomorrow (Friday 5th December) for the Christmas Fayre Cake stall.   Please pop them into the cake bag issued (or wrap in cling film etc) and bring them into school.  Thanks.

Christmas Fayre- Toy/ Book/ DVD Stall
Last chance to have a final sort out of those unwanted good quality toys, cuddly toys, gifts, books, DVD’s etc ready to bring into school for the Toy Stall.  Please ensure items are in good working order/ good condition etc as we won’t have time to sort them before they go on sale.  Thank you.  This is always a popular stall with the children.

Yours faithfully,

Miss H. McKay
Headteacher.
