2010 Ofsted Report

Family Letter number 5
Spring Term, 5th February 2009

Dear Parents,

School Closure Yesterday
Please accept our apologies for the late communication of our school closure yesterday.  The Local Authority guidance is very explicit that schools should endeavour to remain open.  In the ten years I have worked at St. Michael’s we have never closed due to snow until this week.  It was our intention to open yesterday as normal but at 7.25 a.m. it became apparent that we did not have the man power to clear safe entrances to both buildings.  At that point the web manager and radio stations were contacted.  Unfortunately due to the number of school closures they were dealing with our requests were not immediately actioned.  I appreciate that this was incredibly frustrating for both parents and staff alike.  Parents’ Evening will be rearranged for a Thursday evening after half term.Half Term Holiday Reminder

School closes at the normal time on Friday 13th February and reopens on Monday 23rd February.

Visit in school from ‘The Animal Man’.
On Tuesday 24th February the children will experience seeing an assortment of animals and a talk from a member of the Natural History Lecture Service.  This is always a popular event on our school calendar.

A Reminder of our Snow Weather Arrangements
We will endeavour to keep school fully open but if we have to close the school website will be updated immediately.  (www.stmichaelslichfield.org.uk)
The BRMB, Heart FM and Radio WM snow desks will also be informed.
Please try to avoid telephoning school as the school office is not manned until 8.30 a.m.
