Family Letter number 6
Spring Term, 12th February 2009

Dear Parents,

Half Term Holiday Reminder
School closes at the normal time tomorrow, Friday 13th February and reopens on Monday 23rd February.

Parents’ Evening – Thursday 26th February 2009
Our rescheduled parents’ evening has been rearranged for Thursday 26th February.  Appointment times will be those originally arranged for Thursday 5th February.  If the change of date is problematic please contact your child’s teacher to arrange an alternative appointment at a mutually convenient time.

Report from Governors’ meeting
“Following our last Governors’ meeting, we can report that steps have been taken for Governors to forge even greater links with staff.  The chairpersons of the various Governor Committees will meet more regularly with the school leadership team and all Governors have been invited to partner with individual class teachers or Key Stage or Subject Leaders.  This additional resource and support is intended to help progress the school improvement plan and contribute to the direction that classes and subjects are taking.

We are pleased to report that the school’s latest academic attainment figures indicate that we are on track to meet our achievement targets.  St. Michael’s compares very favourably with schools of a similar profile and is exceeding the majority of average performance scores across the County.

Our next meeting is 12th March.

St. Michael’s Governors wish you and your family an enjoyable Half Term break.”

Visit in school from ‘The Animal Man’.
On Tuesday 24th February the children will experience seeing an assortment of animals and a talk from a member of the Natural History Lecture Service.  This is always a popular event on our school calendar.

Children’s Disco Organiser Needed
We still need somebody to come forward to replace the current disco organiser.  If you are interested but want further information why not pop along to our next meeting? Or have a chat with a committee member at the next disco?

PTA Children’s Disco Organiser Needed

We need someone to organise the Children’s P.T.A. School Discos.  No previous experience is necessary, just a little time.  Full training and support from the PTA will be given.  The role could be shared.

The P.T.A. usually organises 3 children’s discos per year (1 per term).  Due to school hall availability they usually take place on a Wednesday after school (4:30-5:30 p.m. and 5:45-7:00 p.m.).  The organisers’ role entails photocopying a letter to children and liaising with the DJ, P.T.A., School and Helpers.

If you are interested or need further information then please contact a member of the P.T.A. or leave a note for us with your contact details in the P.T.A. tray in the school office.

We need somebody to come forward for future disco’s to take place so please consider it.  Thanks.

Yours faithfully,

Miss H. McKay
Headteacher.
