Family Letter number 3
7th May 2009
Dear Parents,
Family Praise - Sunday
February 10th -10.00 a.m. in St. Michael’s Church
We hope you can be in church for this service where some of our children will be taking part in school prayers and readings.
Over the coming weeks we will be organising classes for September. If you feel that there are any ‘issues’ or ‘histories’ that we should be aware of please talk to your child’s current teacher before half term. Please be aware that at this stage we have not organised which teachers are going to be in which year group, so please, no requests for specific teachers.
Class arrangements for September will be published on Friday June 26th. As in previous years we will display the class lists in the entrance hall.
Theatre in SchoolOn Friday May 1st we had a visit from M & M Theatre. Entertaining us with a production of ‘Pinocchio’, which was enjoyed by all the children.
Girls’ Football TournamentCongratulations to all three girls’ football teams that represented St. Michael’s excellently on Friday 24th April in the Lichfield and District Tournament at King Edwards. All girls involved with the three teams played excellently. The Year 4 team won their league competition and, after a nail-biting semi-final, the Year 5 side won their section also. Thank you to all the players involved and the adults who came along to give their support.
Reception Visit to Ash End House FarmThank you to parents/grandparents who accompanied us on this visit. We had a lovely time.
Sturgeons Hill EntranceWe would remind you that the entrance onto Sturgeons Hill is a vehicle entrance. Parents and children should use the gate on Cherry Orchard at all times.
Class Worship – Class 1WWe look forward to parents/carers of children in Class 1W joining us on Friday 22nd May at 9.30 a.m. for this event.
Tag Rugby TeamWe wish our Tag Rugby Team well for Monday, 18th May, when they represent us at Lichfield Rugby Club. Good Luck!
AbsencesOn occasions you may receive a printed letter asking the reasons for your child’s absence despite the fact that you may have already contacted us. Please note that sometimes the computer optical mark reader does not pick up the marks made by the teachers on the absence forms. This is merely a second check to ensure all reasons for absence are accurate, so we would be grateful if you would complete and return the letter as requested.
Recycled Printer Ink CartridgesWe are still collecting any empty ink cartridges from all printers – if you have any at home please bring them into school – there is a collection box in the foyer.
Used StampsWe are still collecting used postage stamps for St. Giles Hospice. Please send any used stamps into the school office.

Summer Fayre 2009, Saturday 4th July.
Make a note of the date in your diaries. Saturday 4th July is the date for the St. Michael’s Primary School P.T.A. Summer Fayre, from 12-3 .00 p.m. In the U.S., Independence day (4th July) is commonly associated with barbeques, picnics, concerts and other public events. We thought we could use some themes and elements from this, to spice up our summer fayre 2009 and make it the best one ever!
We are holding an informal Summer Fayre Meeting on Monday 18th May at the turnpike public house on Boley Park (next to the co-op) from 8.00 p.m. onwards to start the planning of this event. All welcome. Your contributions and help would be appreciated, however much you can offer.
Recycle your printer cartridges and raise funds for school
Thank you to everyone who has sent their empty printer cartridges into school for recycling recently. We have recently received a cheque for £170. This is fantastic. Please continue to send these in. It helps the environment and raises funds too!
Vouchers and tokens
We also collect Tesco and Sainsbury’s Vouchers and Nestle Box Top Tokens (found on Nestle cereal packets). There are labelled collection boxes in the foyer. Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
Miss H. McKay
Headteacher.
