School Council
Last term our School Council were very busy looking at possible environmental changes for the school.  They were successful in bidding for £250 from King Edward V1 Community Partnership, which they are spending on composting equipment.  A group also visited an award winning eco-school to see what we could learn from them.  School Council have been involved in reviewing our Anti-Bullying Policy.  For a full Termly report, written by our chairperson, please visit the School Council section of our website:

P.T.A. News
Fund-raising requires a huge amount of effort, so every bit of support from parents, friends, sponsors and teachers is always greatly appreciated.  We rely entirely on the support and involvement of new and existing parents to keep the P.T.A. going and add a fun and social dimension to school life.  At present we are raising funds towards new playground equipment (shade canopies etc).  Please consider being actively involved.

Attend a concert and raise funds for St. Michael’s P.T.A.
Lichfield Symphonia will donate £1 to St. Michael’s P.T.A. if you produce the green family letter when purchasing concert tickets.  Their next concert is this Sunday 17th May at Lichfield’s Guildhall at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are £6.50/Concessions £5.00.  Log onto www.lichfieldsinfonia.co.uk for further concert details.

The 80’s Disco.

The D.J. Phil Sutton did a fantastic job mixing all the music from the 80’s and playing most peoples requests.  Congratulations to Marge Simpson and Alice Cooper (they know who they are) for their creative dressing and winning prizes for the optional best fancy dress.

Thanks to everyone who took a turn on the bar.  This seemed to work really well and meant everyone could enjoy the night.  Also thanks to Miss Nickolls and everyone else who helped us set-up.  A Final thank you to everyone one who stayed behind afterwards to help tidy up and ensure we left the hall promptly.

We need your feedback! (positive/neutral/negative)
Because of the costs involved (the DJ, hall hire and license), whilst this was a fun social event it was not a great fundraiser.

We canvassed parents around 18 months ago as to which future fundraising events they would be interested in examples included a ladies night, adult disco, formal ball, quiz night, etc.  In response to your suggestions we held a ladies night in February 2008 and raised just over £600.  The adult disco probably raised around £160.

We need your feedback in order to help us plan future events.  You can drop us a note into the P.T.A. tray in the office or talk to a member of the committee (If you can’t recognise us without our 80’s gear there are contact numbers on the P.T.A. notice board).

Summer Fayre 2009, Saturday 4th July, 12-3.00 p.m.

We are holding an informal Summer Fayre Meeting on Monday 18th May from 8.00 p.m. onwards at the turnpike public house on Boley Park (next to the co-op) to discuss the planning and preparations for this event.  All welcome.  Your contributions and help would be appreciated, however much you can offer.  Alternatively if you have any suggestions or ideas and can’t attend the meeting then please contact us.

We need prizes for the Summer Fayre Grand Raffle!
Examples include family days out, beauty treatments, vouchers, meals for two etc.

If you know someone who might be able to supply us with a suitable prize then please ask on our behalf! Remember all the money we raise benefits the children.

If you have a particular area of interest or a talent to offer, or if you would like to get involved and lend a hand then please let us know.  Drop a note into our P.T.A.  tray in the school office or speak to any member of the committee.

Yours faithfully,

Miss H. McKay
Headteacher.
