Dear Parents,

Message from the Road Safety Unit
The weather is hopefully now starting to get better, so why not try walking to school a few times a week!  Whilst walking, encourage your child to walk furthest from the road at all times.

Walking is good for children and teachers notice that children who have walked to school are more alert in class than children who have travelled by car.

P.T.A. News

PTA Meetings
Thanks to everyone who attended Monday’s Summer Fayre meeting at the Turnpike.  We have begun to make arrangements for this years Fayre.  Future meetings are scheduled as follows.

P.T.A. Summer Fayre meeting, Monday 8th June, 8.00 p.m. the Turnpike (next to Co-op)
To discuss preparations to date, and see what progress has been made.

P.T.A. Meeting, Monday 13th July, 7:45-9.00 p.m., the Main School Staffroom.
To review recent fundraising events and any other business.

Summer Fayre 2009, Saturday 4th July, 12-3.00 p.m.

As you may be aware,   Saturday 4th July is the date for the St. Michael’s Primary School P.T.A. Summer Fayre, from 12-3.00 p.m.  In the U.S., Independence day (4th July) is commonly associated with barbeques, picnics, concerts and other public events.  We intend to use some themes and elements from this, to spice up our summer fayre 2009 and make it the best one ever!

Does anyone know of a ‘marching band’ or similar performing group (that would fit in with our fayre theme), that would be willing to offer their time freely to perform in a slot at our fayre? Please contact a member of the P.T.A. if you can offer any assistance.

Summer Fayre Non-uniform Day, Friday 12th June
A date for your diaries.  We will be holding a special non-uniform day in exchange for donations (tombola prizes etc) to be used for the Summer Fayre on Friday 12th June.  A separate letter with full details will be issued after half-term.  In keeping with our Summer fayre theme, we thought we would suggest an optional red, white and blue theme to the non-uniform day!

We need people to get involved to help share the running of the Fayre stalls

We will put a list of proposed stalls on the PTA notice board and a brief description.  We are trying to allocate help to these stalls ASAP.  We will be sending out a letter out about the Fayre shortly after half-term.  If you were able to offer even an hour of your time it would mean that stalls could be shared and everyone could enjoy the fayre.

The next P.T.A. meeting to discuss the Summer Fayre will take place on Monday 8th June at the Turnpike from 8.00 p.m. So why not pop in and find out what’s involved.

We need prizes for the Summer Fayre Grand Raffle!
Examples include family days out, beauty treatments, vouchers, meals for two etc.

If you know someone who might be able to supply us with a suitable prize then please ask on our behalf! Remember all the money we raise benefits the children. Thanks to all those people who have contacted us so-far.

If you have a particular area of interest or a talent to offer, or if you would like to get involved and lend a hand then please let us know.  Drop a note into our P.T.A. tray in the school office or speak to any member of the committee.

Yours faithfully,

Miss H. McKay
Headteacher.
