Family Letter number 6
5th June 2009
Dear Parents,
What a week weather wise! No doubt we are using up all this summer’s best days. Can I thank all parents for remembering hats and sun cream for their children. It has made dinner times so much easier as we have very little natural shade.
Safety of our children
St. Josephs School have asked us to mention the safety of dropping your child off in the morning. One of our parents leaves their child outside St. Josephs School and the child runs through St. Josephs car park and across the field. This morning the child was narrowly missed by a car on this car park. Please ensure your child uses the footpath from Cherry Orchard to St. Michaels School.
An afternoon of Family Fun – Wall House, Green Lane, Wall, WS14 OAS - (Opposite St. John’s Church) on Saturday 13th June at 2.30 p.m.
Enjoy the Gardens, listen to the music, and relax with a home made cream tea. From 2.30 p.m. also silent auction, books stall, bowls, face painting, bouncy castle, treasure hunt, grand connect contest, cake stall, lucky dip, table tennis challenge, and lots more.
There will also be a Bake a Cake Challenge – two classes: under 11; and 11-16 years. - If you are interested in the challenge please collect a form from main school office.
Open EveningPlease come and join us at the Open Evening on Thursday 9th July between 4.00 and 6.00 p.m. Please feel free to look around the whole school, not just your child’s class. It is a wonderful opportunity for you to see your child’s classroom for next year and celebrate their ‘STAR Week’ work from this term.
New Class ListsClass lists will be displayed in the entrance hall after school on Friday 26th June until the end of Open Evening. You are welcome to come and see whom your child will be with. Please can you wait until after school before coming in to view the lists.
Jewellery PolicyPlease can we remind you that we have a no jewellery policy in school. Watches can be worn and stud earrings. When P.E. lessons are taking place no watches or earrings can be worn. If children are not confident in removing their own earrings they should not wear them to school on days when they have P.E., Games or Swimming. If your child has recently had their ears pierced they should bring tape to cover their earrings during P.E. lessons until it is safe for their earrings to be removed. We appreciate your support in this matter.

We need people to get involved to help share the running of the Fayre stalls
We have sent a letter out about the Fayre. If you are able to offer even an hour of your time, stalls could be shared and helpers would be able to enjoy the Fayre themselves with their families.
The next P.T.A. meeting to discuss the Summer Fayre will take place on Monday 8th June at the Turnpike from 8.00 p.m. So why not pop in and find out what’s involved.
We need prizes for the Summer Fayre Grand Raffle!
Examples include family days out, beauty treatments, vouchers, meals for two etc.
If you know someone who might be able to supply us with a suitable prize then please ask on our behalf! Remember all the money we raise benefits the children. Thanks to all those people who have contacted us so-far.
Yours faithfully,
Miss H. McKay
Headteacher.
