Sunday 14th June - Special Celebration at St. Michael’s Church
Rector David celebrates a decade at St. Michael’s this month. Sunday 14th June will be the tenth anniversary of Rector David’s arrival at St. Michael’s Church and the start of his work with the school. There will be a special celebration service at 10.00 a.m. on the 14th which will be in the form of the simplified communion service we use for school services at Easter and Michaelmas and which has proved very popular. Everyone is welcome to come along and mark this milestone.
We look forward to seeing parents/grandparents of children in Class 1H tomorrow, Friday 12th June at 9.30 a.m.
Catch the Walking Bus!
Now that summer has arrived, why not encourage your child to join the Walking Bus. It is a fantastic way for the children to get some exercise and fresh air and for parents it is a great alternative to the school run, easing congestion and helping the environment.
At St. Michael’s we run the Walking Bus on three separate routes – Shortbutts Lane (Monday, Thursday, and Friday). Minors Hill (Friday) and Boley Park (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). All buses leave at 8.20 a.m. which gives us plenty of time to get the children into the playgrounds at school well before the bell goes.
The buses follow a designated route and are led by trained volunteers. We are able to pick up passengers at pre-arranged bus stops along the way.
Parents are welcome to walk with the children with no commitment to the running of the service, although new volunteers are always welcome to help spread the load and potentially offer the service on more days. We recognise that it is not always possible for parents to help out and so this is not a condition for your child to take part – they are very welcome to join the bus on their own.
Interested in your child walking with the bus? All you need to do is complete a consent form (available from the school office) and turn up.
With the end of the academic year fast approaching, we would also welcome new parent volunteers for September. If you would like more information on becoming a volunteer, please contact Sue Benton (Staffordshire Walking Bus Co-ordinator) on 07773 791347 or speak to any of the St. Michael’s walking bus volunteers.
