Family Letter number 9
25th June 2009

Dear Parents,

A reminder of the Year 4 Annexe Induction Day - Tuesday 30th June 2009

Year 4 children should arrive at the Annexe between 8.40 and 8.50 a.m. and enter the playground via the blue side gate off the Churchyard path. Children will be dismissed from the Annexe at 3.15 p.m.  Children who normally attend Beacon Badgers after school will go directly to the Annexe Hall.
Parents are invited to join their children at the Annexe from 2.30 p.m. onwards to see what they have been doing that day and to have a quick tour around the Annexe building.  You are then free to take the children home early if you so wish.
We look forward to seeing you on the day.

Open Evening – Thursday 9th July 4.00 p.m. – 6.00 p.m.
Please join us during Open Evening and feel free to wander around the whole school.  You will have a chance to share your child’s ‘STAR Work’ books with them, which will be in their classrooms.

Class Lists for Next Year

Class lists will be displayed in the entrance hall at the end of school tomorrow, Friday 26th June.  They will be on display from 3.15 p.m.  Please do not come into school before that time because they will not be accessible.

Inset Day

Please note that next Monday, 29th June is an Inset Day and therefore school will be closed to pupils.

Year 6 Leavers Evening – Wednesday 15th July at 6.30 p.m.
We look forward to seeing Year 6 parents at this event.  Refreshments will be provided by the P.T.A.

Sports Day

A reminder that Friday 10th July, is our Key Stage 1 Sports Day beginning at
1.30 p.m.  We look forward to seeing parents and grandparents. Key Stage 2 Sports will be held on Friday 17th July again at 1.30 p.m.

Reception and Year 6 Class Photographs

Our order has now been placed with H. Tempest Ltd.   If you have not already ordered your copy and would like to do so you will have to order directly from the photographer.

Message from the Road Safety Unit

More and more children are now walking using mobile phones and mp3 players or iPods.  Walking whilst not concentrating can be very dangerous so please make sure that your children don’t use these devices whilst they are out and about.

 St. Michael’s Summer Fayre
- Saturday 4th July 12-3pm

Come Rain or Shine, the Fayre will take place on Saturday 4th July. Hoping to see many of you there.

We have stalls featuring refreshments (including Candy Floss), a Licensed Bar (selling beer, wine and Pimms), a BBQ (selling hotdogs and burgers), tombola’s, coconut shy, beat-the-goalie, fantastic inflatables (mega slide and bungee run), horsey hoppers and lots more besides!

To complement our ‘American Independence day theme’ we have a display of Cheerleaders from the ‘Elite’ dance school and other themed attractions.

We still need extra help setting up the stalls from 10am -12pm, manning the stalls from 12- 3pm, and help tidying away after the Fayre from 3-4pm.
If you can help in any way, even if just for an hour that would be great!
It’s useful to have lots of people to help during the event so everyone can enjoy the fayre with their families, and to enable us to tidy away quickly at the end.  Thanks.

Summer Fayre Program Design Competition
We launched a competition to submit an A4 design that could be used on the Summer Fayre entrance programme (around our theme and stalls etc).  The closing date for your entries is tomorrow, Friday 26th June, so get your entries in!

Summer Prize Draw
Each family should have received an allocation of raffle tickets for this years’ Summer Prize Draw which will be drawn at our Summer Fayre on Saturday 4th July 2009.  This Prize Draw, along with the Summer Fayre, is the major fundraising event for the school. The money being raised will be used to buy valuable extra resources within school and a proportion has been pledged towards future playground equipment.
This year’s prizes include the following;

  • Meal for two (Sunday Buffet including a bottle of house wine) at the Lee Garden Restaurant
  • Signed Warwickshire Cricket bat
  • Voucher for ‘Silks Hairdressers’ (£30)
  • Steven Burgin (cut and finish)
  • Facial from Cute Little Beauty Salon
  • "Natures Way" beauty gift set supplied by Quartz Health and Beauty Ltd, Lichfield.
  • 4x1 person golf round vouchers (Mon-Fri) on the Mill Course at the Lichfield Golf and Country Club
  • 2x One Week passes to the Lichfield Health and Fitness Club
  • 2x weekend passes to Esporta Health Club
  • A private Swim lesson
  • Bottle of Champagne

So, please help us to make the Prize Draw our most successful yet, by selling your tickets and indeed if you can sell more, please ask.  Please return your ticket stubs and money plus any unsold intact tickets to school in the envelope provided by Wednesday 1st July please.

No Used Toys and Books for the Summer Fayre Please
We are not accepting donations of used toys/books/videos for the Summer Fayre.  We usually have a stall at the Christmas Fayre and would appreciate donations then.

Also, we are thinking of doing a recycling fundraising event in the Autumn Term, which will accept quality second hand ladies’, men’s and children’s clothing, as well as bedding, curtains, soft toys, shoes, belts and handbags.   We would raise funds for school for every kilo collected.  Watch this space for further details nearer the time.

Yours faithfully,

Miss H. McKay
Headteacher.
