2B Class Worship – Friday 3rd July 2009
A reminder that Class 2B Class Worship will be tomorrow, Friday 3rd July at 9.30 a.m. We look forward to seeing parents, grandparents or carers.
Year 6 Leavers Evening – Wednesday 15th July at 6.30 p.m.
We look forward to seeing Year 6 parents at this event. Refreshments will be provided by the P.T.A.
A reminder that Friday 10th July is our Key Stage 1 Sports Day beginning at 1.30 p.m. We look forward to seeing parents and grandparents.
End of TermSchool will close on July 21st at the normal time and reopen for children on Wednesday 9th September.
Open Evening – Thursday 9th July 4.00 p.m. – 6.00 p.m.
Please join us during Open Evening on Thursday 9th July between 4.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. Please feel free to wander around the whole school. Please take time to share your child’s ‘STAR Work’ with them. Books will be out in their classroom.
Your child will bring their report home tomorrow. At the bottom of the report is an acknowledgement slip. Please return this to school and include any comments about how reports may be improved in the future. If there is anything in the report that you would like to discuss further with your child’s teacher please make an appointment to see them via the main school office. Please can I remind you that Open Evening is to celebrate the children’s work. Separate appointments should be made to discuss reports where you can discuss your concerns in a more conducive setting.
New Class ListsClass lists will be displayed in the entrance hall until the end of Open Evening. You are welcome to come and see whom your child will be with. Please note that due to data protection no photographs can be taken of the lists.
Year Group Arrangements for 2008-2009 including staff changes.You will have noticed from the class lists in the entrance hall some changes in staffing. Mrs. Wilkowski, Mr. Hardwick and Mrs. Williams will be leaving us at the end of the Summer Term. We wish them every success as Mrs. Wilkowski and Mrs. Williams retire and Mr. Hardwick moves on to a new school in Stafford. Mrs. Wilkowski’s and Mr. Hardwick’s replacements have been appointed. Miss Morris and Miss Mirfield will be joining the Annexe team in September.
Last week Miss Nickolls was invited to undertake a term’s secondment to Churchfields in Rugeley. As a result we are in the process of recruiting a teacher for Year 1 who will teach the class for the whole academic year. Miss Nickolls’ secondment is part of her own continuing professional development and we are looking forward to welcoming her back to St. Michael’s in January.
We can now confirm the teachers in each year group for September.

Third teaching group each morning: Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Taylor.
We are now in the process of timetabling the Planning, Preparation and Assessment time and Leadership Team release. This will primarily be undertaken by Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Beddow, Mrs. Hadfield and Mrs. Smith.
Walking Bus to the Annexe
There is the opportunity for the existing walking bus routes to be extended from the Main School gate to the Annexe. To be introduced we would need some additional adult volunteers and a co-ordinator for the Annexe link. If you would be interested in helping with co-ordinating or having access to the walking bus for the children please return the reply slip below.
Lichfield Mysteries Window Display Competition
We are very pleased to announce that St. Michael’s School is now the proud winner of a trophy, having won this competition! A huge well done to all the children in Years 1 and 2 for creating such a wonderful display and thank you to everyone involved.
The children’s work will only be on display until the beginning of next week so if you haven’t already made a visit to Redshaws/S & J Music in Bird Street, please do if you can.
Staffordshire Life Caravan
Staffordshire Life Caravan will be visiting the school from Monday 6th July until Wednesday 8th July. All of the children, from Nursery to Year 6 will be visiting the caravan to undertake activities linked to PSHE and SEAL topics.
The caravan will be open for parents and governors to visit the unit on Tuesday 7th July from 2.45 until 3.15 p.m. The caravan will be located at the end of the car park, near the Year 4 mobile classrooms.

![]() St. Michael’s Summer Fayre- Saturday 4th July 12-3pm Come Rain or Shine, the Fayre will take place on Saturday 4th July. Hoping to see many of you there. We have stalls featuring refreshments (including Candy Floss), a Licensed Bar (selling beer, wine and Pimms), a BBQ (selling hotdogs and burgers), tombola’s, coconut shy, beat-the-goalie, fantastic inflatables (mega slide and bungee run), horsey hoppers and lots more besides! To complement our ‘American Independence day theme’ we have a display of Cheerleaders from the ‘Elite’ dance school and other themed attractions. |
We still need extra help setting up the stalls from 10am -12pm, manning the stalls from 12- 3pm, and help tidying away after the Fayre from 3-4pm. |

Summer Prize Draw
Each family should have received an allocation of raffle tickets for this years’ Summer Prize Draw which will be drawn at our Summer Fayre on Saturday 4th July 2009. This Prize Draw, along with the Summer Fayre, is the major fundraising event for the school. The money being raised will be used to buy valuable extra resources within school and a proportion has been pledged towards future playground equipment.
