Message from the Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership
Coming back to school after the summer break is an exciting time - seeing your friends again and getting to know your new teacher. Don’t let new term excitement stop you being safe on the way to and from school.
Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children
You must stay close to the adult who is looking after you.
Children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6
It’s still a good idea to stay near to an adult, but you should know a bit more about road safety than the younger ones. Please remember to look and listen carefully before crossing the street. Cross at safer places such as a pelican or zebra crossing or with the School Crossing Patrol and don’t take risks.
Parents
If your school has a Walking Bus, why not get involved? Volunteers are always welcome.

PTA Meetings
Thanks to everyone who attended Monday’s PTA meeting. Being the first one of the new academic year there was plenty to cover. It was lovely to see so many people attend and to welcome some new parents. If you would like to get involved but are not sure what the PTA does here at St. Michael’s then please feel free to pop into any of our future meetings as detailed below. We would love for more people to get involved even if you can only help with ideas and planning. You can contribute as little or as much as you want.
Christmas Fayre Planning Meeting: Monday 12th October 8pm, The Turnpike: A sub-committee will be formed
Sorry for mentioning Christmas already, but we need to start planning for this years Christmas Fayre so we can make it really special for the children here at St. Michael’s. The Fayre is going to take place at main school on Friday 4th December from 6-8pm and we hope many of you will support this festive event at school by getting involved. This year we are going to form a subcommittee from the main body of the PTA just to organise the Christmas Fayre. If you have any ideas, then we have organised a fairly informal meeting at the Turnpike Public House on Boley Park on Monday 12th October from 8pm onwards. Similarly if you want to get involved but are not sure what is entailed then please feel free to pop in at this time.
*** Would you like the opportunity this year to send unique Christmas cards to your friends and family that have been individually designed by your own child? Watch out for more information in future newsletters ***
Adults 70’s Disco Saturday 21st November postponed till Jan/Feb 2010
Due to a clash with the annual swimming gala for the Lichfield District Beavers/Scouts Organisation we have had to unfortunately postpone this event. We will reschedule it to January/February time and let you know the new date as soon as we have it. It’s is unfortunate, but many of the parents who help organise the PTA events have children taking part in the swimming gala. Good luck kids in the gala!
