Family Letter number 6
22nd October 2009
Dear Parents,
OFSTED Update
We are still awaiting our OFSTED report. Please be patient with us and be assured that as soon as we have received the report we will circulate it. A parents meeting will be held on either Wednesday 11th or Wednesday 18th November at 7.00 p.m. to provide you with the opportunity to hear what the school has planned and for you to ask any questions.
Poppies are now on sale in school. If you wish your child to contribute to this collection donations will be most welcome.
Foundation Stage
In order for us to further develop our outdoor learning environment. We would be most grateful if any of you could donate the following:
Large sheets or pieces of fabric
Plastic crates
Drainpipes and tubing.
It was lovely to see so many Grandparents, Parents and Carers in school for these events.
School Closed to PupilsSchool is closed to pupils tomorrow, Friday October 23rd. This day will be a Staff Training Inset.
Half Term HolidayA reminder that half term is next week, Monday 26th October until Friday 30th October inclusive.
Puffin Book Club
Please return any orders with payment to school by November 5th 2009.
If your child is in any class from Nursery up to Year 4 and wishes to attend the Pantomime at Lichfield Garrick and you have not already done so please return the permission slip and £8.70 to cover the cost of admission.
Sturgeons Hill EntranceWe would remind you that the entrance onto Sturgeons Hill is a vehicle entrance. Parents and children should use the gate on Cherry Orchard at all times.
AbsencesOn occasions you may receive a printed letter asking the reasons for your child’s absence despite the fact that you may have already contacted us. Please note that sometimes the computer optical mark reader does not pick up the marks made by the teachers on the absence forms. This is merely a second check to ensure all reasons for absence are accurate, so we would be grateful if you would complete and return the letter as requested.
Parents Meeting – Learning Platform (Years 3, 4 and 6)
Children in Years 3, 4 and 6 are soon to begin using our learning platform, an interactive virtual learning environment. If you would like to find out more about what this involves, please come along to an informal session on Wednesday 4th November at 6.00 p.m. A separate letter is being circulated.
Thank you for your support in these events. All children in school benefit in many ways from money raised. Please could you encourage your children to collect money in as soon as possible.
Operation Christmas ChildWorking in partnership with Lichfield Methodist Church we will be collecting shoeboxes, gifts, or money for Operation Christmas Child. If you feel you can contribute in some way please send your donations to us before Friday 13th November. Please label boxes to indicate which age group and whether the gift is suitable for a boy or girl.
I do hope that you feel that you can help to make Christmas a little happier for children less fortunate than our own.
Parent Governor Election
After the ballot count we are pleased to welcome Mrs. Clare Patterson onto our Governing Body as a Parent Governor.
Application forms have now gone out to parents. The closing date for the return of the forms this year is December 11th 2009.
