24th June 2010

What a week weather wise!  No doubt we are using up all this summer’s best days.  Can I thank all parents for remembering hats and sun cream for their children.  It has made dinner times so much easier as we have very little natural shade.

The list has now closed for requests. If you have applied for your child to be considered for peripatetic music lessons next year you will be informed soon if he/she has been allocated a place.

Parking on Housing Estate near Frenchman’s Walk
Residents are increasingly concerned by parents parking on their numbered parking spaces in this area.  Please be courteous as these are in fact people’s drives.  Please do not park there.
Lichfield Police are also extremely concerned about parents parking and following a parent assaulting a resident in Cherry Orchard last week when the resident asked them to move their car, the police are patrolling at the beginning and end of the school day.

Staff Updates

This week we welcome a new member of staff.  Mrs. Siobhan Manton has joined us in our school office.

Staffing Arrangements for 2010-2011

At the end of term we will be saying farewell to both Mr. Halliday who is moving on to Anglesey Primary School in Burton on Trent and Miss Mugglestone who comes to the end of her contract.  We wish them every success for the future.
We will also be saying farewell to Mrs. Wallbank whose secondment comes to an end.  I am sure you will all join me in congratulating Mrs. Wallbank on her appointment as Headteacher at Stoneydelph Primary School in Tamworth.
Some of you will have recently seen Miss Nickolls in school and at the gate at main school.  Miss Nickolls rejoins our team in September as Deputy Headteacher following her secondment to Churchfields.  Miss Nickolls will be teaching at the Annexe each morning.
Our staffing structure for next academic year will be:

Nursery - Mrs. Barker

Water Bottles

New that the weather is warmer please can you make sure that your child has a named water bottle in school so that they have access to water throughout the day.  Research demonstrates that children who are hydrated learn far more effectively.

We look forward to seeing Year 6 parents at this event.  Refreshments will be provided by the P.T.A.  Please be aware that space in the hall is very limited and we can only provide two seats per family.

Sports Day

Sports Day for Foundation and Key Stage 1 is Friday 16th July at 1.30 p.m. on the main school field.

Sports Day for Key Stage 2 is Wednesday 21st July at 1.30 p.m. also on the main school field.

We will open the Frenchman’s Walk Gate at 1.15 p.m. once all of the children are back in their classrooms to enable you to access the field.  At the end of the afternoon the children will be taken to a class base on the field and dismissed from there.
