How you can get involved

How you can keep in touch

Have you got a child at St. Michael’s Primary School, or are you a member of staff? Then you are a member of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA).

St. Michael’s CE (C) Primary School enjoys a thriving PTA thanks to the continued and enthusiastic support of parents and teachers.  The PTA organises events such as discos, film nights, fayres etc. throughout the school year to raise desperately needed additional funds.

The funds that we raise, usually around £9,000 per year, through these events go towards providing extra resources for the benefit of our children. At present we are raising funds towards new playground equipment.

Fund-raising requires a huge amount of effort, so every bit of support from parents, friends, sponsors and teachers is always greatly appreciated.  We rely entirely on the support and involvement of new and existing parents to keep the PTA going.  People involved in the PTA generally have children attending the school, giving their time freely to add a fun and social dimension to school life. If you have a particular area of interest or a talent to offer, or if you would simply like to lend a hand, please don’t be shy!

We always appreciate extra input and help from parents, so please do get in touch with us, and keep a lookout on our notice board and in the next Family Letter for details of forthcoming PTA meetings and fund-raising events.  Meetings are generally held in the school staffroom during the evening and meeting dates are posted in the school’s weekly Family Letter and on the Notice board.

We need your input and contributions. If you are able to help or if you have any ideas you can offer then please contact the PTA. You can:

  • Drop a note into the PTA Box in the school office
  • Find our contact numbers on the PTA Notice Board

We would love you to join us and look forward to hearing from you.  Remember the PTA is a volunteer organisation and so it is only as active as the people that support it.

Helps the school

Of course it is not all about money!

PTA members have provided their time to help out in school in ways such as covering books or providing refreshments at functions such as School productions and Class worships.
PTA members also offer to count tokens (Tescos/Sainsbury’s/Morrisons/Nestle) and recycle printer cartridges.

How you can get involved:

Come to a meeting
If you have a child at the school or if you are member of staff you are very welcome to come to any meeting. Our meetings are very informal and last for about an hour.  We meet at least once every half term in the school and the date is advertised in advance. Watch out for posters on the PTA notice board and updates on the green family letter.

Attend and support PTA events
Volunteer to help on a stall at a fayre.  Even if just for an hour.   Regular letters go out letting you know when and where help is needed. You can also help by donating items to raise money e.g. raffle prizes
