Reception Newsletter
Autumn 2007
Dear Parents,
This half term our topic is Traditional Stories. So far we have focused our work across the curriculum around The Three Little Pigs, The Elves and the Shoemaker and this week Goldilocks.
Next week the focus is around Little Red Riding Hood. We will finish the week with “Red Day” on Friday 30th Nov. The children can wear anything red and bring in red objects from home. Week beginning 3rd December our book will be Cinderella. The three weeks after this Christmas kicks in! There are lots of activities planned for example talking about the Christmas story, making cards, calendars, Christmas performances, a party to name but a few.
You are invited to come and look at your child’s Star Week book with them and to see what we have been doing in class on Tuesday 4th December between 2.45 and 3.10.
How you can help your child/ children
- Please continue to practise recognising letters and sounds at the beginning, middle and end of words.
- High Frequency word recognition.
- Counting, reading, writing and recognising numbers to 10/15/20 and beyond.
- Now that the cold weather has arrived it would really help if the children were able to put on and fasten their own coats, (named as well please.)
Thank you for your support in the mornings the children are coming down the path independently really well.
We have begun to work on our Christmas Nativity.
Dates for this are: Wednesday 12th December 1.45pm ( 1.45 not 1.30 as previously communicated).
Friday 14th December 9.30 am. Details to follow.
The children will be bringing a note home on Friday informing you of what they have chosen to “be” and the costume they will need.
Kind regards
Mrs Elcock & Mrs Lane.
