Year 6 Netball

Year 6 pupils were given the opportunity to join the netball club on a Friday afternoon at main school. Once they had been given the letter about the club many pupils jumped at the chance: with more than 20 pupils replying, the best netball coach ever had a hard job to teach everyone how to play netball. With help from the teachers everyone learned the rules just in the nick of time as the chosen netballers went to play there first match.
Weeks of hard practise had paid off, winning lots of the many matches played, including going on to win the Lichfield district large schools tournament.
“We were one shot away from winning the whole tournament. I could barely look, my heart was pounding and then we scored. My ears were filled with screaming and I thought I had gone deaf!”
The team who had won went onto the county tournament. However, although they tried their hardest, they could not win that tournament. Although they were a little disappointed they did really well to even get that far. It was not all bad; they got to meet an Olympic wheelchair basketball player, Sinclair Thomas, who played for Britain in China last year. They each received a certificate and photos which were both signed! They also got their ball signed, so it wasn’t all that bad.
Netball finished just before Easter and some of the girls from the club went on to a different club at the local Secondary school. All of their hard work paid off!
