Girls' Football report

The Lichfield schools 6 – a – side tournament was held at King Edward’s school on Friday 24th April.

St. Michaels’s year 4 team were entered against teams from St. Chad’s, Willows and St. Stephen’s from Fradley.

The first game against St. Chad’s was a close affair with St. Michael’s taking a well deserved lead.  A misunderstanding of the rules led to a penalty for St. Chad’s but St. Michael’s goal keeper made a wonderful save to ensure a win.

The second match against Willows saw the St. Michael’s 6 dominate the game but some good defending meant they ha to settle for another 1 – 0 victory.

The girls entered the final game knowing a win would see them the tournament winners.  They once again performed fantastically and scored 3 goals and kept another clean sheet.

As the only school with no subs to call on, all the girls put in 100% effort and were well deserved winners.

Thanks to Mrs Strachan and Mr Hardwick for getting the team together – The practices they had were well worth braving the rain and cold.

The girls are now looking forward to representing Lichfield in the Staffordshire tournament on Saturday 6th June at Shobnall, Burton on Trent.
